What Happens With Too Small Shoes

Remember when your mother told you never wear too small shoes?  I always wondered why and being the shoe fanatic I am I tried to wear them a time or two (they were cute), but guess what?  They hurt!  Luckily I learned my lesson or my feet could have looked like this:

And what does this have to do with adoption you might ask?  I'm just doing my duty in showing you what your kiddos feet can look like if you don't buy them the right sized shoes.  Although on the plus side, I don't think this woman has to worry about pedicures, toenail polish and her shoes have to be pretty inexpensive.  Oh, I forgot...THANKS MOM!

That might be the most amazing thing I've ever seen. It looks like she purposely did that to her feet. Right? I still can't believe it. It's like I feel like I should look away. But. I. Just. Can't.

holy crap. I was EATING when I clicked over to your blog. I've heard that women who bound their feet became deformed but never have seen what that looks like. Criminy.

Okay this is not funny but I'm laughing anyway. My grandmother had feet that looked a little like that -- no joke. On holidays or when we went to bring her to our house we would have to take turns with a HUGE shoe horn trying to get her not rightly shaped feet into those right shaped shoes. When I was little my brothers would tell me that when I grew up I was going to have feet like grandma. I would CRY!!!! I swore to myself it would never happen to me and so any shoe that hurt my feet I would never wear again. I feel so bad talking about my grandmother like that but I do have, cute feet. LOL

I thought when feet were bound they just didn't grow. I never knew that's what the process did. She would never have been able to walk properly her whole life. How sad is that.

What a coincidence. I was just talking about bound feet at a family BBQ this week. I don't think I've seen a picture of the feet sans shoes before. It's rather disturbing.

Valarie...that was just wrong. LOL I remember seeing a woman in NYC whose toes were all on top of each other. I'm not talking one I am talking all. I thought why is she wearing sandals but I guess why not?

I've seen this before, but it still brings tears to my eyes!
