That's Noble of You

Girl meets boy.

They have decent conversations.

Girl tells boy she is adopting a daughter who will be home in the spring.

Boy says: "My that is noble of you."

Girl is dumbfounded.

What should girl do?  She really hates stupid responses, but it probably wasn't as bad as it seemed to her.

Well, he is a guy so...

Does he have children? If not then another huge break has to be given to him.

I don't really take offense at the many ways people don't 'get' my family. I've had more than one person tell me it was 'brave' of me to marry my husband. Huh? Then others tell me they wouldn't like not looking like their children - my son is bio and I think we do look alike. But they don't get it. Their lives are not lived to the depths ours are.

Oh give him a chance. It takes lots of studying and lots of blogs to get the language just right.

At least he didn't say "Why"..... LOL

How about a sarcastic, "Isn't it though?"

If you like him, educate him. I just had my sister tell me I'm being too sensitive when I mentioned how I find references to the word "natural" child versus adoptive child offensive. It's a pain if someone doesn't even bother to do some basic information gathering, but if he's worth it, help him out. You can always dump him later.

Ha Ha Ha! Someone told me that the other day too...a guy. I really didn't know how to respond. I know I am very sensitive about my adoption, but noble? I just don't know!

I don't know...yes, he is a "man". I'll wait and see what other things he may say...please don't let them be ridiculously dumb!

"noble". . .girl, don't trip, cut that man some slack. He could have said dumber things (trust me, my hubby's friends have said some stuff that made me wonder if they even had dog-sense)!

You're dating some bloke? Details!!

ahem

Back to your post - try to cut him some slack but I would ask why he thinks it's noble.

Not everyone has the g'nads to adopt so to some we are superhuman :-)

Haze, not dating anyone in particular, just met someone and had conversations. Funny, since I told him about my baby girl, I haven't heard from him as frequently! Hilarious! Keep it movin' dude!
